Make an EnquiryIn the Holguin Province, there are two main areas to stay, Guardalavaca and Playa Pesquero.
In Guardalavaca the main beach is Esmerelda Beach with it’s stunningly beautiful crystal clear turquoise waters and vast white sand beach, with the coral reef just off shore for you to explore. Here there is the Naranjo National Park with it’s aquarium dolphinarium which is accessed by boat, the dolphins that you can swim with are in the sea. There are bars and cafes that line the white sands where if you want to venture away from your Hotel surroundings for a while, you can take an evening stroll and enjoy a drink or the fabulouos Cuban coffee. Transfer from Holguin Airport is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes.
Playa Pesquero is said to be the area whereby Christopher Columbus first set foot on Cuban soil. Playa Pesquero bay is in a horseshoe shape and is therefore protected with crystal clear turquoise blue ocean and the fantastic soft white sand you can spend many a relaxing hour upon. Hotels are located directly on the beach at Playa Pesquero and most activities are hotel based as there are no bars or cafes to walk to, or you can get a horse and carriage to a local bar or small town nearby. Transfer time from Holguin Airport is approximately 1 hour.
Holguin itself is approximately 40 minutes by Taxi, here you can explore the numerous squares with different shops, cafes and bars and is a really pleasant City, there is also a cigar factory here for you to purchase the world famous Cuban cigars if you so wish or visit Loma de la Cruz (Hill of the Cross) for spectacular views of the City of Holguin.
